Mrs. Mary Jubb
Instructor of Science & Public Speaking
Mary Jubb is a geologist, speaker, and educator from the Appalachian Mountains of East Tennessee. As a child, she was always curious about the mountains around her, and that led her to a career as a geologist. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and her Master of Science in Geology from the University of Tennessee. During graduate school, Mary discovered a passion for teaching and carried that love with her to her first job as an instructor at the University of Tennessee at Martin. In 2011, she uprooted her family and began a career as a geologist with Occidental Petroleum in Bakersfield, California. In 2014, she transferred to Houston, Texas, and began working as Oxy’s structural geology subject matter expert in 2020. She regularly leads trainings for geoscientists around the world. Mary teaches Earth Science and Public Speaking at Bluebonnet.
When Mary isn’t lost in the woods (or in her head) thinking about, talking about, or looking at rocks, she is a homeschool mom to two boys, both of whom attend Bluebonnet. She also serves as an officer in the Missouri City Toastmasters Club. In her free time, Mary enjoys reading, running, and chasing after her menagerie of pets.
