Dr. Gary Hartenburg
Secretary of the Board, Instructor of Logic & Socratic Discussion
Dr. Gary Hartenburg was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and earned his BA in biblical studies and theology from Moody Bible Institute, his MA in philosophy of religion and ethics from Biola University, and his PhD in philosophy from the University of California, Irvine. He specializes in ancient philosophy, ethics, and philosophy of religion. He currently teaches in and serves as the director of the Honors College at Houston Baptist University, and he serves as visiting faculty for Summit Ministries in Colorado. When not reading works of and about the ancient philosophers, he enjoys reading poetry and novels, in particular the poetry of T. S. Eliot and the novels of Jane Austen and Leo Tolstoy. Gary lives in Sugar Land with his wife, Jen, and their two children, and he is a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan.
Dr. Hartenburg teaches both Logic and Inklings & Classics—Socratic Discussion classes at Bluebonnet.
