Mrs. Emily Jones
Instructor of Art, Nature Journaling & Humanities
Emily Jones is a long time student and lover of the arts and an experienced educator with training in Writing instruction and a special interest and background in Classical and Charlotte Mason educational approaches. For the past six years, Emily has been learning and studying about what it means to be a Classical, Charlotte Mason educator and how Charlotte Mason’s principles can help educate the whole person of the child by spreading a generous feast of the good, true, and beautiful.
From early childhood all the way through adulthood, Mrs. Jones has enjoyed refining and growing in her skills in both the visual and performing arts. One of the most influential people in her love and interest in art was her Granny, who taught her to oil paint, enrolled her in ballet lessons, and took her to art museums. Even while gaining her BFA Degree for Performing Arts at Sam Houston State University, Emily still found opportunities to grow in her visual arts by taking college level drawing classes, creating program and shirt designs for the dance department, and spending hours on campus drawing all that she saw around her. After college, Emily danced professionally in Houston with Ad Deum Dance Company and started her teaching career as a ballet instructor for various studios in the Sugar Land and greater Houston area.
Now as both a homeschool teacher to her three children and also a professional teacher at a local arts studio, Emily desires to instill a love of learning and appreciation for art in her students.
When she is not teaching, Emily finds great enjoyment in reading golden age mystery novels, painting for fun, going to the beach, and spending time with her family. Her church family at Grace Community Bible Church is very important to her and she loves serving in the children’s Sunday school and their AWANA program.
Emily loves being a part of the Bluebonnet faculty and teaching Art, Writing, History, Latin, and BHSC flagship Charlotte-Mason-inspired Panorama classes including Nature Journaling and Artist & Composer Study, Plutarch & Shakespeare courses.
